Helen is determined to tackle the high level of drug abuse on G-Wing. She has learned that the prison’s random testing policy is anything but. Meanwhile new inmates Zandra Placket and Monica Lindsey arrive at Larkhall.

Rachel is besotted with Fenner and asks him if they will still be able to see each other when she is released from prison. What Fenner doesn’t realise is that the secret is far from that... Meanwhile, it’s visiting day and Zandra is praying that her fiancé, Robin will smuggle in her next fix and Nikki tries to raise Monica's spirits by suggesting that she contact her solicitor and focus on trying to win an appeal against her conviction.

Zandra has decided that she wants to abort Robin’s baby. Although Helen concedes that she’s probably doing the right thing, she remains troubled by the inmate’s motives. Meanwhile, Shell is determined to make Rachel suffer for daring to have an affair with her man. Entering Rachel’s cell, she takes down the photograph of the teenager’s baby and gouges out its eyes with a pen.

Dominic's finding it hard to come to terms with the recent events and chooses to confide in Fenner about his disenchantment with the Prison Service. Fenner meanwhile is all too aware of the part her played in the tragedy. He’s desperate to cover his back and so makes it clear to everyone that the buck stops with Helen.

Dominic has his hands full with a new inmate. Meanwhile, recognising Nikki’s love of literature, Helen tries to persuade her to consider furthering her education with the Open University and tries to persuade Dominic to retract his resignation.

Ep. 7:
|
Sean teases Helen that her maternal instincts are wasted on the inmates and that the time has come for him to make an honest woman of her. Helen is distinctly cool and hastily excuses herself—they will discuss it when she returns from work. Meanwhile, in light of Nikki’s improved behaviour, Helen has decided to move her into a vacant cell on G3. Hollamby and Fenner are aghast and they’re not the only ones, Shell almost goes into orbit when she observes Nikki moving into the cell next-door to hers.

Ep. 8:

Shell is finding life back on G1 extremely tough, not only because she’s lost her Enhanced status but also because seeing her nemesis, Nikki, strutting around on the G3 landing is just one humiliation too many for her to take. Meanwhile, Monica receives some terrible news and the only help Helen can offer is of a practical nature, supporting the inmate back to her cell, providing sedation and cradling her until she falls asleep.

Ep. 9:
|
Shell seems to have turned over a new leaf and is informing everyone who will listen that she’s got religion. Helen overhears Monica instructing her solicitor to drop her appeal and is dismayed. She tries to persuade Monica to change her mind but she is resolute—now that Spencer is dead, she has nothing left to live for. Nikki decides to see if she can succeed where Helen failed.

The Julies have decided to get a petition together, hoping to persuade Helen to reinstate open visits. Meanwhile, In need of an ego boost, Shell resorts to offering herself to Fenner...
